Zonal Groups: Building Local Connections

1. Purpose & Core Philosophy

The Zonal Groups serve as hyper-local community hubs within our ecosystem. Their primary purpose is to foster real human connection, geographical networking, peer-to-peer support, and offline engagement. While digital communities excel at global knowledge-sharing, our Zonal Groups bridge the gap by bringing members together based on shared geography, regional context, and local culture.

Key Rule on Job Postings:

Zonal Groups are strictly designated for networking, casual catchups, local advice, and region-specific coordination. They are not to be used for job postings or recruitment drives.

All employment opportunities, hiring announcements, and career discussions are consolidated in our dedicated platform, The Equitorial (our official EA Jobs Marketplace). Keeping hiring activities centralized on The Equitorial ensures candidates have equal visibility and keeps regional channels clutter-free.

2. What Belongs in Zonal Groups?

Members are encouraged to use these spaces for:

  • Peer Support & Local Help: Asking for regional recommendations (e.g., local vendors, workspace suggestions, housing, or city-specific navigation).

  • Networking & Informal Meetups: Organizing casual coffee chats, weekend co-working sessions, dinner gatherings, or local community events.

  • Knowledge & Cultural Exchange: Discussing regional industry trends, local business ecosystems, and regional news relevant to members.

  • Community Bonding: Casual banter, welcoming new local members, and building meaningful professional friendships.

3. Overview of Regional Zones

To ensure broad yet structured coverage across India, our network is divided into 10 dedicated Zonal Groups:

  • Mumbai

  • Delhi & NCR

  • West Bengal & North East

  • Tamil Nadu

  • Karnataka & Kerala

  • Andhra Pradesh & Telangana

  • Gujarat

  • Rajasthan

  • Pune & Central India

  • Punjab & North India

  • Goa

4. Governance & Management

To ensure every zone remains lively, supportive, and aligned with community guidelines:

  • Co-Managed structure: Each zonal group is led by dedicated Regional Leads (Community Volunteers / Area Coordinators).

  • Role of Regional Leads:

    • Facilitate conversations and introduce new members residing in the zone.

    • Coordinate offline meetups, community dinners, and local events.

    • Ensure discussions remain focused on local networking and direct non-compliant posts (like job announcements) to The Equitorial.
