In this last and final article of the five-part series on the fundamental skills needed to succeed as Executive Assistants, I would like to talk about the importance of the role Corporate Culture plays. This is arguably one of the most misconstrued aspects of any organization for that matter.

When we ask the question, “What is the corporate culture in your organization?” more often than not, we come across subjective thoughts rather than objective reasons. This happens to people who cut across experiences and designations. I feel the reason for this is that people being people, cannot operate strictly as per a coded corporate culture policy document, even assuming such policies existed in the first place. Corporate culture is a powerful force that shapes the identity, values, and behaviours of an organization.

Hence, with the subjectivity surrounding aspects of corporate culture, I feel it is imperative to set aside unlocking the codes of corporate culture and delve into important aspects of how to approach aligning yourself with the culture of the organization you are a part of and using that to your advantage, whatever the culture of your company might be.

Exploring Corporate Cultures within Organizations

Corporate culture is a complex tapestry that is woven by various factors, including national, regional, and industry-specific influences. As an aspiring executive assistant, understanding these different cultural aspects is crucial for navigating the dynamics of the organizations you work for. Let's explore the key aspects that will serve as a guide on this journey.

Understanding National Cultural Aspects

Every nation has its unique cultural identity, which significantly influences organizational values and practices. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the national culture of the organization you are a part of or aspire to join.
